Ire’ne Lara Silva is the author of several poetry collections, including the light of your body (Arte Publico, 2026) and the eaters of flowers (Saddle Road, 2024). She is the recipient of the 2025 Poetry Rising Star Award and the Gold Medal Juan Felipe Herrera Best Poetry Book Award from the International Latino Book Awards. 

Named the Texas poet laureate in 2023, silva lives in San Antonio on the land of various Indigenous peoples, including the Coahuiltecan tribes.
