Indran Amirthanayagam
Indran Amirthanayagam is a Sri Lankan American poet, essayist, and translator. He studied English literature at Haverford College, and has an MA in journalism from Columbia University.
Amirthanayagam writes poetry and essays in English, French, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, and Spanish. He is the author of numerous collections, including The Runner’s Almanac (Spuyten Duyvil, 2024) and Seer (Hanging Loose Press, 2024).
Amirthanayagam has received fellowships from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts, New York Foundation for the Arts, and MacDowell. He is the 2025 Matwaala Poet of Honor and the recipient of a Paterson Poetry Prize.
A decorated diplomat in the United States Foreign Service, Amirthanayagam is based in Rockville, Maryland.
