Ibn al-Fāriḍ
Sharaf al-Dīn Abū Ḥafṣ ʿUmar ibn al-Fāriḍ, born on either March 22, 1181, or March 11, 1182, in Cairo, was an Arab Sufi poet. He is known primarily for his poems “The Poem of the Sufi Way” and “The Wine Song,” both of which are considered among the greatest mystic poems in Islamic literature. He died on January 23, 1235.
