Harriet Monroe

Harriet Monroe, born on December 23, 1860, in Chicago, was a poet, critic, and editor best known as the founding publisher and editor of Poetry magazine. Her poetry collections include Valeria and Other Poems (A. C. McClurg & Company, 1892), Dance of the Seasons (Ralph Fletcher Seymour Co., 1911), and You and I (The Macmillan Company, 1914). She died on September 26, 1936.
