Gabriel Gudding
Gabriel Gudding was born in Minnesota in 1966. He is the author of four poetry collections: The Death of Norwegian in Minnesota, forthcoming from Audiatur in Norwegian in 2026; Literature for Nonhumans (Ahsahta Press, 2015); Rhode Island Notebook (Dalkey Archive Press, 2007); and A Defense of Poetry (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2002). He is also the translator from the Norwegian of the books Friends with Everyone and Touch Jesus by Gunnar Wærness and Inventarium by Pedro Carmona-Alvarez, forthcoming in 2025 from co•im•press.
Gudding is the recipient of The Nation/Discovery Award and a National Endowment for the Arts Translation Fellowship. He teaches creative writing, theories of authorship, and translation studies at Illinois State University.
