Gabriel Gudding
Gabriel Gudding was born in Minnesota in 1966. He is the author of four poetry collections: Then Settlers, forthcoming from Audiatur in Norwegian; Literature for Nonhumans (Ahsahta Press, 2015); Rhode Island Notebook (Dalkey Archive Press, 2007); and A Defense of Poetry (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2002). He is the translator from the Norwegian of the books Friends with Everyone, winner of the 2025 Harold Morton Landon Translation Award, and Touch Jesus, both by Gunnar Wærness. He is also the translator of Inventarium by Pedro Carmona-Alvarez, forthcoming in 2025 from co•im•press.
Gudding is the recipient of The Nation/Discovery Award and a National Endowment for the Arts Translation Fellowship. He teaches creative writing, theories of authorship, and translation studies at Illinois State University.
