Derick Burleson

Derick Burleson received a PhD from the University of Houston, where he served as the managing editor of Gulf Coast. He published four poetry collections: Melt (Marick Press, 2012), Use (Calypso Editions, 2012), Never Night (Marick Press, 2008), and Ejo: Poems, Rwanda, 1991–1994 (University of Wisconsin Press, 2000), winner of the Felix Pollak Prize in Poetry. He also received a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. Burleson taught in the MFA program at the University of Alaska–Fairbanks and lived in Two Rivers, Alaska. He died on December 29, 2016.
