David Francis

David Francis’s translations of Severo Sarduy’s work appear in Footwork: Selected Poems (Circumference Books, 2021). He has received a Fulbright fellowship to translate into English poems by the Colombian writer José Asunción Silva. Additional translations and poems have appeared in numerous publications, including Inventory magazine, Guernica, Exchanges: Journal of Literary Translation, The Brooklyn Rail, The Chronicle of Higher Education, and The FSG Book of Twentieth-Century Latin American Poetry: An Anthology (2012), edited by Ilan Stavans.

Francis serves as dean of Grace Hopper College at Yale University, where he teaches in the program on ethnicity, race, and migration.
