Daniel B. Summerhill
Daniel B. Summerhill is a poet and essayist from Oakland. He holds an MFA in creative writing from the Solstice low-residency MFA program at Boston College.
Summerhill is the author of three books, including Mausoleum of Flowers (CavanKerry Press, 2022) and Divine, Divine, Divine (Nomadic Press, 2021).
Winner of the inaugural Rumpus Prize for Creative Nonfiction and the 2023 1/2K Prize from The Indiana Review, he is the recipient of fellowships from Baldwin For The Arts, The Watering Hole and Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, among others.
Summerhill is an associate professor of poetry at Santa Clara University. In 2022, he was appointed the inaugural poet laureate of Monterey County, California.
