Cyrée Jarelle Johnson is the author of WATCHNIGHT (Nightboat Books, 2024), the recipient of the Academy of American Poets’ 2023 James Laughlin Award, and SLINGSHOT (Nightboat Books, 2019), winner of the Lambda Literary Award in Gay Poetry.

From Piscataway, New Jersey, he was the inaugural poet in residence at the Brooklyn Public Library and is a Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Fellow.
