Circe Maia

Circe Maia is an Uruguayan poet, essayist, translator, and teacher of philosophy. She is the author of eleven poetry collections, including Circe Maia: Obra poética (Rebeca Linke Editoras, 2015); Superficies (Ediciones de la Feria, 1990); and Breve sol (Ediciones de la Banda Oriental, 2001).

Among Maia’s honors are the 2015 Grand National Prize for Intellectual Work from Uruguay’s Ministry of Culture and Education and the 2013 Delmira Agustini Medal. She lives in Tacuarembó, Uruguay.
