Bernardine Evaristo
Bernardine Evaristo was born in London and received a PhD in creative writing from Goldsmiths, University of London. Her work is known for its unique blend of genres, histories, and cultures. She is the author of several novels, some of which are written in verse, including Soul Tourists (Penguin, 2005), The Emperor’s Babe (Penguin, 2001), and LARA (Angela Royal, 1996), winner of the EMMA Best Book Award. The recipient of an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in 2009, she is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and the Royal Society of Literature. She lives in London.
