Bernardine Evaristo

Bernardine Evaristo was born in London and received a PhD in creative writing from Goldsmiths, University of London. 

Evaristo is the author of several novels, some of which are written in verse, including Soul Tourists (Penguin, 2005); The Emperor’s Babe (Penguin, 2001); and LARA (Angela Royal, 1996), winner of the EMMA Best Book Award. The recipient of an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in 2009, she is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and the Royal Society of Literature. 

Evaristo lives in London.
