Arisa White

Arisa White is the author of Who’s Your Daddy (Augury Books, 2021); You’re the Most Beautiful Thing That Happened (Augury Books, 2016); A Penny Saved (Aquarius Press, 2012); and Hurrah’s Nest (Virtual Artists Collective, 2012). She is the co-editor of Home Is Where You Queer Your Heart (Foglifter Press, 2021) and co-author of Biddy Mason Speaks Up (Heyday, 2019), recipient of the Nautilus Book Award Gold Medal for Middle-Grade Nonfiction. Arisa’s work has been nominated for a Lambda Literary Book Award, California Book Award, NAACP Image Award, and Wheatley Book Award.

White is the recipient of residencies, fellowships, and scholarships from the Indigo Arts Alliance, the Berkeley Repertory Theater, the Juniper Summer Writing Institute, the Headlands Center for the Arts, the Port Townsend Writers Conference, the Squaw Valley Community of Writers, Hedgebrook, the Atlantic Center for the Arts, the Prague Summer Program, the Fine Arts Work Center, and the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conferences. A Cave Canem fellow, White serves on the board of directors for Foglifter and Nomadic Press, and is an assistant professor of English and creative writing at Colby College. She is also the creator of the Beautiful Things Project, where she curates poetic collaborations that center narratives of queer people of color.
