John Allan Wyeth

John Allan Wyeth, Jr., was born on October 24, 1894, in New York City. In 1915 he graduated from Princeton University, where he was published in the Nassau Literary Magazine. After the United States entered World War I, Wyeth enlisted in the Army, and his division left for France in May 1918. He went on to publish a single book of poetry, This Man’s Army: A War in Fifty-Odd Sonnets (Harold Vinal, 1928), about this experience. The poet Dana Goia writes, “There is no better book of poems about the American experience in the Great War.” Wyeth died on May 11, 1981, in New Jersey.
