The founding members of the Poetry Coalition, a network of 25+ poetry organizations from across the United States, presented One Poem: A Protest Reading in Support of Black Lives on Tuesday, August 18.

Ain't Nothing Going On But the Rent! Nationwide. Poets at the End of the World (PEW), a collective of poets comprised of Ama Codjoe, Donika Kelly, Nicole Sealey, Evie Shockley & Lyrae Van Clief-Stefanon, dedicated to service and social justice, invites you to help those who are behind on rent, in danger of eviction and/or housing insecure. All proceeds go directly to unemployed persons of color who identify as trans, gender non-conforming, non-binary or women. Note: This fundraiser has met its goal. The organizer has currently disabled new donations to this fundraiser

Alice's Garden (Urban Farm and Community Garden)Milwaukee, WI. Alice’s Garden provides models of regenerative farming, community cultural development, and economic agricultural enterprises for the global landscape.

Black LGBTQIA+ Migrant Project. Nationwide. The Black LGBTQIA+ Migrant Project provides cash assistance to Black LGBTQ+ migrants and first generation people dealing with the impact of COVID-19.

Black Leaders Organizing for Communities. Milwaukee, WI. Black Leaders Organizing for Communities works to ensure a high quality of life and access to opportunities for members of the Black community in Milwaukee and throughout Wisconsin.

Florida Rights Restoration Coalition. FL. The Florida Rights Restoration Coalition is a grassroots, membership organization run by Returning Citizens (Formerly Convicted Persons) who are dedicated to ending the disenfranchisement and discrimination against people with convictions, and creating a more comprehensive and humane reentry system that will enhance successful reentry, reduce recidivism, and increase public safety.

Leaders Igniting TransformationMilwaukee, WI. Leaders Igniting Transformation is a youth of color led independent nonprofit. Founded in 2017, LIT engages in values-based issue and electoral organizing, direct action, advocacy for public policy, and leadership development. On campuses and communities in Milwaukee’s key geographies, it organizes young people to build independent political power for social, racial and economic justice.

Minnesota Prison Writing WorkshopMinneapolis, MN. The Minnesota Prison Writing Workshop extends Minnesota’s vibrant literary community to incarcerated men and women. Through high-quality creative writing classes, a one-to-one mail mentor program, and related programming, it fosters literary community and a devotion to art inside of Minnesota’s state prisons. 

Oakland Abolition & SolidarityOakland, CA. Oakland Abolition & Solidarity supports prisoners’ efforts to organize for their own self-defense against inhumane treatment. It functions as a liaison, building bridges between inside and outside to support prisoners organizing their local chapters. It advocates the abolition of incarceration, white supremacy, and capitalism.

People’s Breakfast Oakland. Oakland, CA. People's Breakfast Oakland is a grassroots Black socialists political organization which serves the houseless community essential resources.

Until We Are All FreeNationwide. Until We Are All Free is a racial justice initiative rooted in arts and culture. Together, Black, migrant, refugee, undocumented, indigenous, queer, and transgender communities are building solidarity by tapping into the power of art and culture to envision and to build a world defined by dignity and self-determination— for all of us.

Zacah. Minneapolis, MN. Zacah provides emergency financial assistance to folks who are on the brink of experiencing homelessness or already are. They are currently engaged with organizers at Powderhorn Sanctuary to support those who have been displaced and need help with finding/putting a security deposit down for low income housing, access to crisis shelters, county assistance, job applications, debt relief and direct cash payments.
