Today, with the start of National Poetry Month, we're pleased to report that people are more engaged with poetry than ever before. The number of poetry reading series, festivals, journals, and workshops continues to rise. And, poetry programs and publications will reach many millions of individuals this month, which would not be possible without the generous support of the National Endowment for the Arts. There are many ways you can join the celebration:
- Carry a poem in your pocket for National Poem in Your Pocket Day on April 27, 2017. Find your pocket poem in our downloadable PDF of poems.
- Get your free National Poetry Month poster, designed by Maira Kalman, while supplies last.
- Sign up for Poem-a-Day and receive a new poem to your inbox every morning.
- Bring poetry to your classroom with Dear Poet, a multimedia education project that invites students in grades five through twelve to write letters in response to poems written and read by our Academy Chancellors.
