To celebrate the role correspondence has played in poets' development and writing lives—and inspired by Rainer Maria Rilke's Letters to a Young Poet, in which the poet replies to letters from a young military cadet and aspiring poet asking for his advice—we invited students to engage with poetry by reading poems from some of the poets who serve on our Board of Chancellors and handwriting letters to the poets in response to their poems.
We received hundreds of letters from students across the country, and our Chancellors wrote back. Take a look.
