Each week through the end of National Poetry Month, we’ll be rounding up a list of NPM events happening around the country. Here are some events for the week of March 14-March 20.

Sen. Al Franken's Poetry Contest
U.S. Senator for Minnesota Al Franken is hosting his fifth annual poetry contest for Minnesota students grades K-12. The theme of this year's contest is "Celebrating the Veteran in My Life." Poems must be submitted by April 19.

New Orleans Poetry Festival
The first annual New Orleans Poetry Festival will take place April 15-17 at the Arts Estuary and other locations. Events include a Friday night opening party and concert (Poets with Bands), readings, panels, a small press book fair, and a printmaking class.

University of Tennessee Reading Series
The University of Tennessee is expanding NPM into a semester-long celebration of poetry with readings and music. Marilyn Hacker will read on March 28 and Nikky Finney will read on April 4, among others.

Share Your Poetry Resources
The League of Canadian Poets is seeking stories and resources about using poetry in the classroom so they can share them with the field in a special edition newsletter in celebration of National Poetry Month this April.
