Culture Shock: West Village Poetry Tour
The Academy of American Poets is pleased to present the West Village Poetry Tour, in partnership with the High Line. Poets Lynn Melnick and Matthew Thorburn will lead walking tours exploring the literary history of the West Village, a community that played a central role in the writings of many poets. Discover the neighborhood where celebrated poets once lived, including Elizabeth Bishop, Edgar Allan Poe, and Edna St. Vincent Millay.

"W. S. Merwin: To Plant a Tree"
In celebration of April as National Poetry Month and Earth Day (April 22), the W. S. Merwin documentary "W. S. Merwin: To Plant a Tree" has been scheduled for television broadcast nationwide on PBS in April.
Michigan State University Spring Poetry Festival
MSU is recognizing National Poetry Month through the Spring Poetry Festival, which spans three weeks in April with events on Wednesdays. The festival continues on April 20 and 27 with guests Lindsay Tigue and Robin Coste Lewis.

National Poetry Month Spoken-Word Workshop
Highland Community College’s Clarence Mitchell Library will host Demetrius Amparan, teaching artist from Young Chicago Authors, for a spoken-word poetry workshop in celebration of National Poetry Month. Participants in middle school and older are invited.
