The low-residency MFA in creative writing is a three-year program that "emphasizes a literary approach to exploring and redefining relationships between people and place." Students may take courses in four areas: creative nonfiction, fiction, poetry, and drama for stage and screen. The degree work culminates in a book-length work creative writing and a thesis defense including an in-depth craft essay that puts the student's book into critical perspective.
