Experience this poem with a simple reflection which you can ask your students to share. Of course, feel free to add some activities of your own.
Read Joy Harjo’s poem twice in a choral manner, with a different student reading each small stanza until you have included the whole class and finished the poem. Spend five minutes in quiet written reflection after both readings are complete.
