Charles Dickens

Charles John Huffam Dickens was an English novelist and poet born on February 7, 1812, in Portsmouth, England.

One of the most widely read authors of the Victorian era, Dickens is best known for his novels, including Great Expectations (Chapman & Hall, 1861); David Copperfield (Bradbury & Evans, 1850); A Christmas Carol (Chapman & Hall, 1843); and Oliver Twist (Richard Bentley, 1838).

He died on June 9, 1870, in Higham, Kent, England.
