Leah Umansky

Leah Umansky is a writer, educator, and artist. She earned her MFA at Sarah Lawrence College.

Umansky is the author of four poetry collections, including Ordinary Splendor (Etruscan Press, 2028) and Of Tyrant (The Word Works, 2024). She is also the author of the memoir Delicate Machine (Dzanc Books, 2027). 

Umansky is a middle and high school English teacher and, since 2011, she has been the host and curator of the Couplet Reading Series in New York City. She is also a writing coach who has taught workshops to all ages at the Guggenheim Museum, New York Public Library, Poetry School in London, Poets House, and elsewhere.
