Applications accepted online through December 5, 2021 for 2022 residency for a poet with an interest in public engagement
The Guggenheim is collaborating with the Academy of American Poets to establish a year-long poet-in-residence position open to a contemporary poet with strong interest in public engagement beginning in January 2022. The selected poet-in-residence will collaborate with the Guggenheim’s public programs department to design activations and experiences for the museum’s adult, teen, and youth audiences to engage with poetry as an artistic form. Poetry has long been presented and celebrated at the Guggenheim, beginning with the Academy of American Poets presenting poetry readings in the Peter B. Lewis Theater in 1963.
The poet-in-residence will play a core role in the Guggenheim’s public programming throughout the year and will plan and participate in events that may include onsite readings, workshops, and activations in the museum. The selected poet-in-residence will receive a $20,000 honorarium.
Applications will be accepted online from November 2, 2021 through December 5, 2021 (11:59 p.m. EST).
