Where is this event being broadcast?

Our primary broadcast feed, with live chat hosted by twenty contemporary poets, will be available via Crowdcast.io with limited availability. A simultaneous stream will be available via YouTube.

What is Crowdcast?

Crowdcast is an internet browser-based virtual event platform that requires no downloads to use. For best results, Google Chrome is recommended. For more information on attending events via Crowdcast, see their Attendee Support page.

Is this appropriate for school-aged children?

Poems read will not have been screened for appropriateness for school-aged children and viewer’s discretion is advised.

Who can attend this event?

Poetry & the Creative Mind is presented free of charge and open to all who are available to attend live. Donations are welcomed and encouraged for those who are able to support the Academy of American Poets and its Education Program, which provides free resources to tens of thousands of educators each year.

Will the event be available for replay after April 28?

This presentation will be offered only once as a live broadcast and will not be available for replay.

What time will the broadcast be presented?

The Poetry & the Creative Mind broadcast will air only once at 7:30 p.m. (19:30) EDT. You can determine what time this is in your time zone here.

Do I need to register for Crowdcast or install software to attend?

Crowdcast is a browser-based platform that works best in Google Chrome. You will not need to download any additional software to access our live broadcast. Your Eventbrite registration includes an automated registration to our event in Crowdcast. A unique link to access the event will arrive by email at the address you provided. When will I receive the link for my livestream?

Crowdcast will email all registered participants with a final reminder 10 minutes prior to broadcast. Eventbrite will email the YouTube link to all participants who have requested the captioned broadcast April 28 at 10AM EDT and again one hour prior to broadcast.

What if I’m having trouble logging in to Crowdcast?

Our broadcast is accessible through the personal link Crowdcast will email you directly ([email protected]). Once you’ve received that link, use it to go directly to the event. Is closed captioning available?

Closed captioning is provided only through our simulcast feed. If you prefer to watch with subtitles, please access the event through YouTube (the page will be updated when the stream becomes available).

Can I watch the program on my TV?

If you watch TV with a device that has a YouTube app (SmartTV, Roku, etc.), you should be able to access our event through YouTube when the stream becomes available Thursday.
