Instructor: Jessica Cuello
In this workshop we will use outside materials to spur our own poems, creating drafts from diary entries, letters, photos, other poems, and even the fears and phobias of our fellow workshop participants. Come prepared to write, and have at the ready a news article and a photo, journal entry, letter, or email/text that has some emotional resonance for you. The exercises will be flexible, so there is no “wrong” item. Open to all levels.
Jessica Cuello is the author of Hunt (The Word Works, 2017) and Pricking (Tiger Bark Press, 2016). She has been awarded The 2017 CNY Book Award, The 2016 Washington Prize, The New Letters Poetry Prize, a Saltonstall Fellowship, and most recently, The New Ohio Review Poetry Prize. Her most recent poems can be found in Copper Nickel, Cave Wall, Bat City Review, Pleiades, and Salamander.
