Words Out Loud at Glen Echo Park: A Spoken Word Series will present a reading by Kristin Kowalski and Michelle Stokes at Glen Echo Park - North Arcade Building, Room 302 in Glen Echo, Maryland, on Friday, February 1, 2019, 7:30 p.m.
Kristin Kowalski Ferragut has been a featured reader at DiVerse Gaithersburg Poetry and is a regular contributor to open mics, at venues such as Words Out Loud. She participates in local poetry and prose writing workshops, in addition to reading, biking, hiking and teaching. Her work has appeared in Beltway Quarterly and Mercurial Stories.
Michelle Stokes is an in-progress novelist, aphorism author, poetess, and sometimes essayist. Much of her work has echoes of an earlier time as she developed a love for classic literature and the poetry of Bronte, Poe, Byron, Shakespeare, and Tennyson at an early age. Reading these authors, as a child, did not give her her voice, but showed her where her voice had a home. Even more than their prowess with language, the classical masters were able to change atmosphere, quicken the pulse, and open up the human heart. Michelle has once said “The heart, if it cannot be melted, must be cracked with an axe!”
