Tickling the Muse: Engaging your readers with humor

We will begin the day with a craft discussion that examines how the occasional comedic nod can humanize even the most serious of subjects. While different genres have different demands, Peter has found that fiction writers, nonfiction writers and poets can learn much about their own craft by reading, discussing and experimenting with the craft of others. He will showcase models from contemporary writers who have mastered the art of redeeming a piece that might have become self-indulgent or overwhelming. Then Peter will offer you prompts to get you writing, challenging you to add light touches. Spend the day writing and sharing your new drafts in our supportive community. You may bring previously written work or start something new.
