Students will experience the masterworks of the Hill-Stead collection through the lens of poetry. In a one-hour-long class, students will work in the drawing room, filled with French Impressionist masterpieces and beautiful decorative arts.
They will then select one artwork to focus on to create an Ekphrastic poem, which is a type of free verse composing. Students will experiment with this poetic form to express what they see and/or feel while inside the museum and engaged in close viewing of their chosen artwork.
Registration: $20 per student
Please note: There are two sessions. The 11 am class is for middle school-age students, and the 1 pm class is for high school students. Please sign up for the appropriate age level.
