Newtown Literary for Kids: Taking the Leap with Poetry

Taking a literary leap, students will learn about imaginative and effective descriptions in poetry using simile and metaphor. Then, with prompts and exercises to further examine the relationships between words and ideas, students will craft poems with creative descriptions that stand on their own and carry the reader’s imagination and attention. For ages 8-12.

About the Instructor: Jackie Sherbow's poetry has appeared in Day One and Luna Luna. She is the editor of Newtown Literary.
