The Moon in Jewels: Poetry with Ellen Grace O'Brian & Parthenia M. Hicks

Join poets Ellen Grace O’Brian and Parthenia Kavita Hicks for an evening of poetry that weaves the spiritual and the personal, observes longing, grief, and absolute joy as co-existing states, and explores Pierre Teilhard de Chardin’s belief that “we are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience."

Doors open at 6:30 pm and performance begins at 7:00 pm. Affordable wine, beer, and soda will be available. An open mic will follow the performance.

Yogacharya Ellen Grace O’Brian is a spiritual teacher, poet, writer, and founding Acharya and spiritual director of Center for Spiritual Enlightenment—a Kriya Yoga Meditation Center in San Jose, California. Her published works include Living the Eternal Way: Spiritual Meaning and Practice in Daily LifeLiving for the Sake of the Soul, and three volumes of poetry including the award-winning 2017 release The Moon Reminded Me. Parthenia M. Hicks, M. Div., Poet Laureate Emerita, is the recipient of the Dragonfly Press Award for Literary Achievement; the Silicon Valley Arts Fellowship for Literature; the Robinson Jeffers Tor House Poetry Prize, the Villa Montalvo Poetry Prize, and several Pushcart nominations. She is widely published and the editor of Song of Los Gatos, an anthology of work about the town of Los Gatos and its literary history. Parthenia is the Managing Editor of the Enlightenment Journal and a professional freelance editor, specializing in fiction, spirituality, memoir and poetry.
