Hope at Hand is celebrating National Poetry Month with its 3rd Annual Jax Poetry Fest. Jax Poetry Fest is a four-day event that includes poetry workshops, spoken word, interactive poetry and a high school poetry contest.
April 4, 2018: Join us as we kick off Jax Poetry Fest from 5 to 8 p.m. Nile Stanley will be hosting spoken word on the Hemming Park Café stage during Art Walk and inside MOCA we have a haiku and watercolor workshop. Adjacent to the café, our tent will also feature interactive poetry activities during Art Walk.
April 5, 2018: The fun continues on the 5th floor of MOCA from 5 to 8 p.m. on April 5, with classes facilitated by Harolyn Sharp, Nile Stanley, Stephanie Brendle, Lena Shaqareq, and more. Hope at Hand will run a session, "What is Poetry Therapy?"
April 6, 2018: From 2 to 4 p.m. at MOCA, Jax Poetry Fest classes include Tanka poetry, "Crossing Bridges,” “Finding Your Audience & Building Fans,” and “Returning Words to Real Objects.”
April 7, 2018: The final day of Jax Poetry Fest will feature Fredrick Dale, Keri Foster, Kristy Lee Schatz, and Jenn Wolfe facilitating classes on MOCA’s 5th floor from 1 to 4 p.m.
