Eco-Poetry and the Modern Adventurer with Anne Marie Wells

This event is in coordination with The Fundraiser for Rotten Kidneys to benefit fellow poet, YaNi Davis.

About This Event:

Using published examples, we’ll explore what a winter poem might look like, then brainstorm ways to defy or pushback on those conventions, leading into writing a poem of our own.

About the Facilitator:

Shelly Holder is a graduate of the 2023-2024 Lighthouse Writer's Poetry Collective, where she worked on her first manuscript, Naming the Marrow. She's the Associate Editor for Spillway magazine, Operations Assistant for Moon Tide Press, and the chapter lead for the San Gabriel Valley branch of Women Who Submit, an organization supporting publication of women/ women-identifying writers, especially in top tier literary journals. Her work can be found at Iron Horse Review and Ponder Review, among others, which are listed in full at her website www.shellyholder.com. She lives in the greater Los Angeles area with a fur baby and parched houseplants.

About the Fundraiser:

This 3-day poetry/creative writing marathon benefits YaNi Davis @yanimeanspeace , a fellow poet who has been battling kidney disease and whose life is at risk due to kidney failure.

Several poets are coming together to host poetry workshops on topics they feel passionately about. All the workshop registrations are donation-based. ALL DONATIONS WILL GO DIRECTLY TO YANI'S LIVING AND MEDICAL EXPENSES.

If you would like to donate directly to YaNi's GoFundMe campaign, do so here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-yani-davis-find-a-lifesaving-kidney
