Dire Literary Series with Laura van der Berg, Mark Saba and Meg Smith

Laura van den Berg was raised in Florida. Her first collection of stories, What the World Will Look Like When All the Water Leaves Us, was a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers selection and a finalist for the Frank O’Connor International Short Story Award. Her second collection of stories, The Isle of Youth (FSG Originals, 2013), received the Rosenthal Award for Fiction from the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the Bard Fiction Prize. Her first novel, Find Me (FSG, 2015), was long-listed for the 2016 International Dylan Thomas Prize. Her next novel, The Third Hotel, will be published by FSG in August 2018. She lives in the Boston area.
 
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Mark Saba has been writing for more than thirty years in the genres of poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. He has also produced and directed a poetry video.
 
Mark also works as an illustrator and graphic designer at Yale University. He lives with his family in Connecticut.
 
Meg Smith is a poet and events producer in Lowell, MA. She is a former board member of Lowell Celebrates Kerouac and recently published by second poetry book, Dear Deepest Ghost.
