In celebration of their 21st year of operation and their growing community of authors in the NYC area, Broadstone Books invites you to join them for a marathon reading by 35 authors beginning at 1pm and continuing throughout the afternoon, with a reception for the readers to follow.
By attending or participating in this program, you agree to abide by our Community Agreement.
Events at Poets House are popular, and seating is first-come, first-seated. We have several seats reserved for people with access needs. If events reach capacity, seating will be available in an overflow viewing room.
Broadstone Books is a literary small press specializing in poetry, based in Frankfort, Kentucky.
Since its founding by publisher Larry W. Moore in 2004, it has grown from its regional roots
publishing a book or two a year into a national press with nearly 200 titles by over 160 authors
across the US and beyond. They made their New York City “debut” in 2014 at the Poetry Project
at St. Mark’s with the release of Like Musical Instruments: 83 Contemporary American Poets, an
anthology with photographs by John Sarsgard and poems selected by the late renowned poet,
editor, and publisher Larry Fagin. In the ten years since then the Broadstone community of NYC
area poets has grown exponentially as demonstrated by this event, with appearances at major
venues including the New York City Poetry Festival and Bryant Park reading series. With the
largest concentration of Broadstone authors located here and nearby, they describe themselves as
“the only NYC poetry press based in Kentucky!” Having long contributed their poetry titles to
the Poets House collection, they are delighted at last to appear here for this celebration of poetry
and community.
