Alberto Ríos, Arizona’s first poet laureate, will open the spring program for Penn State Behrend’s Smith Creative Writers Reading Series. In addition to his 13 books of poetry, Rios has written three short-story collections and a memoir, Capirotada. He has received fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts and won the Walt Whitman Award.
