Bad Poetry Slam: A Lamentable Call for Poets and Performers

Good writers have it, bad writers have it: bad poetry. Join us as we celebrate the act of creation (and hilarity of failure). Help us laugh, groan, and find unlikely inspiration as we remind ourselves that there’s a potential poet inside all of us, and that creativity is a fundamental human need that shouldn’t be repressed (though maybe shouldn’t always be shared)!

Join a litany of poets from across Miami as you compete to bring your very worst in janky rhythms, uncomfortable metaphors, and non-discerning taste in subject matter. We heavily encourage costumes, props, and audience participation as you vie before a panel of super special guest judges for a chance at the title of Miami’s own Bad Poet Laureate.

If you feel inspired (and/or disheartened) to perform at the Bad Poetry Slam, please contact [email protected] with your interest and a brief summary of what/how you intend to perform. Each performer will have three minutes, and performer spots are limited. The deadline for submitting is March 31st.

Hosted by Judson Wright. For venue info, visit Artistic Vibes in Kendall.
