Fingers in a Bush

by Elizabeth Kujanpää

Under gangly stalks of lavender,
I stick my finger out, hoping to

Catch a honey bee. The sun settles
into my neighbor’s roof and

The blue grass twitches with invisible
legs. When the new dusk thrums, I

am left to wonder — will the grass
grow this rowdy in the next life?
