Jethro Bithell

Jethro Bithell, born January 29, 1878, near Wigan, England, was a scholar and translator of Belgian, French, and German literature. His many translations include Turandot, Princess of China; a Chinoiserie in Three Acts (T. F. Unwin, 1913) by Karl Vollmoeller; the biography Émile Verhaeren (Houghton Mifflin, 1914), written by Stefan Zweig; and Contemporary French Poetry, Contemporary Belgian Poetry, and Contemporary German Poetry, all published by The Walter Scott Publishing Company in 1912, 1911, 1909, respectively. Bithell died in Paignton, England, on February 26, 1962.
