Ernest Myers

Ernest James Myers, a British poet, author, and Classicist, was born on October 13, 1844, in Keswick, England. The author of five collections of poetry, Myers is best known today for his translations from the ancient Greek, including his collaboration with Andrew Lang and Walter Leaf on books XVII–XXIV of Homer’s Iliad, The Iliad of Homer Done into English Prose (Macmillan, 1883) and The Extant Odes of Pindar (Macmillan, 1874). He died on November 25, 1921, at Etchingham, Sussex.
