Mizna presents contemporary, critical, and experimental art, writing, and film centering the work of Arab and Southwest Asian and North African artists. For twenty-six years, Mizna has been a woman-led contemporary arts organization. We publish a biannual print literary and art journal, Mizna, and Mizna Online, a digital platform for literary and multidisciplinary work reflecting critically on the current realities of the SWANA region and beyond. We produce the Twin Cities Arab Film Festival, the largest and longest-running SWANA-centered film festival in the Midwest. Founded in 1910, the Poetry Society of America is the oldest poetry organization in the United States; it is also one of the most innovative. The mission of the Poetry Society is to place poetry at the crossroads of American life. The PSA transforms public spaces into sites for imaginative encounters with poems, engages diverse and often underserved communities, amplifies the voices of poets around issues of common concern, and honors their aesthetic contributions to our lives. Our programs combine a commitment to artistic excellence with a radically democratic vision for poetry’s place in daily life.

For 29 years, Youth Speaks has created safe spaces that challenge young people, especially Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Pacific Islander, and those from working-class communities, to find, develop and apply their voices as creators of societal change. From our in-school residencies, out-of-school specialized workshops and our signature Brave New Voices International Poetry Festival, we provide platforms for youth to speak for themselves. Our work lives at the intersection of Arts Education, Public Presentation, Youth-led Cultural Organizing, and Youth Narrative strategy. As we respond to the challenges and opportunities of this next era, Youth Speaks is committed to activating youth stories to build narrative and cultural power ultimately helping to create a world in which young people are heard, honored, and connected through creative ecosystems of interdependence and care.
