Rita Dove was born in Akron, Ohio, on August 28, 1952. Dove is the author of ten poetry collections, including Thomas and Beulah (Carnegie-Mellon University Press, 1986), which received the Pulitzer Prize. In 2019, she was awarded the Wallace Stevens Award.
