Southbound II

by Micah Collins-Sibley

sound made
of the spot between
shoulder-blade
and spine
embers, breath(e) out,
burning, breath(e) in.
            out,
              in.
half pound of
bones made out of
bone, crushed
by sturdy-limbed
Southerntrees
in eyes lingering
on peach stonebones,
under soaked earth-genes,
wet whispers;
passed on sound pains.
creak-creak-creak;
          out.
ship-shick-sharp;
          in.
