Earthy. Practical. Precise and spare. Surprising imagery. The stuff of biting paradox and stark self-appraisal. These are only a few of the ways Maxine Kumin’s poetry has been described. Join us for this year’s Read A Poet/Write A Poem where we’ll study the work of Maxine Kumin (1925-2014), and then complete and workshop a writing assignment based on what we’ve learned. In honor of Kumin’s love of horses, we have arranged to hold this event in the classroom at the MSU Horse Research and Training Facility on the south end of campus. This two-part workshop takes place on January 18 and January 25, 7-9 p.m.
