Christian Schwartz
Type designer and typography consultant Christian Schwartz is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University’s Communication Design program. He worked at MetaDesign Berlin and The Font Bureau before forming Orange Italic with designer Dino Sanchez and later Schwartzco. He has released fonts and typefaces with a number of companies, including The Font Bureau, Village, FontFont, and Émigré, and his typefaces have appeared in Sports Illustrated, Rolling Stone, The Guardian, and Wallpaper, among others. In 2007, Schwartz received the Prix Charles Peignot from the Association Typographique Internationale. Schwartz and fellow designer Erik Spiekermann received a gold medal from the German Design Council for their collaborative design of the Deutsche Bahn typeface system. He has lectured throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia. Schwartz designed Poet Electra, the font exclusive to the Academy of American Poets and the new Poets.org, which launched in April 2014.
