Barbara Carle

Barbara Carle is a French American poet, translator, and critic who was born in Peshawar, Pakistan. Carle earned a PhD from Columbia University in 1988.

Carle has taught at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Loyola University, and the University of North Texas. She currently teaches at California State University, Sacramento, where she is a professor emerita of Italian in the department of world languages and literatures.
