New York, NY (November 15, 2012) – A luminary of American poetry, Louise Glück is, as Publishers Weekly has stated, a "towering figure of the past thirty years." The former U.S. Poet Laureate, Pulitzer Prize-winner, and former Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets published her highly-anticipated collected volume, Poems 1962-2012, with Farrar, Straus and Giroux and Ecco Press this November. Dwight Garner of The New York Times has called the book's release, "…a major event in this country's literature, perhaps this year's most major." To honor the occasion, the Academy of American Poets will hold a tribute event featuring Glück's friends and fellow poets Frank Bidart, Dana Levin, Robert Pinsky, Peter Streckfus, and Ellen Bryant Voigt, who will join Glück on stage to read selections of her work. This rare gathering of acclaimed poets will take place at the Theresa Lang Center at The New School in New York City on December 14, 2012 at 7:00pm. The event is free and open to the public with limited seating. It is co-sponsored by Farrar, Straus and Giroux, Ecco Press, and The New School.

Louise Glück is the author of eleven books of poems and a collection of essays. In addition to the Pulitzer Prize, her many awards include the National Book Critics Circle Award, the Bollingen Prize for Poetry, and the Wallace Stevens Award from the Academy of American Poets. She teaches at Yale University and lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The Academy of American Poets is a nonprofit organization founded in 1934 to foster appreciation for contemporary poetry and to support American poets. For over three generations, the Academy has connected millions of people to great poetry through programs such as National Poetry Month, the largest literary celebration in the world; Poets.org, the most popular site about poetry on the web; American Poet, a biannual literary journal; and an annual series of poetry readings and special events. In addition, since 1934, the Academy has awarded more money to poets than any other organization. For more information, visit: www.poets.org.
