New York, NY (May 25, 2023)—The Academy of American Poets announced today that it has been awarded a $65,000 grant in the literary arts category from the National Endowment for the Arts’ (NEA) Grants for Arts Projects program. The grant will provide critical support to Poets.org, Poem-a-Day, National Poetry Month, and the other free programs and publications the Academy produces for poets, readers, and educators in all fifty states.
In total, NEA Chair Maria Rosario Jackson has approved more than $31 million in grants as part of the NEA’s second major funding announcement for fiscal year 2023.
“The National Endowment for the Arts is pleased to support a wide range of projects—including those of the Academy of American Poets—that demonstrate the many ways the arts enrich our lives and contribute to healthy and thriving communities,” said NEA Chair Maria Rosario Jackson, PhD. “These organizations play an important role in advancing the creative vitality of our nation and helping to ensure that all people can benefit from arts, culture, and design.”
