daisy

by Isabel Rose Smith

i go wolf

prideful and feverish and thorny

a panoramic womb, a former vessel, a liminal forever,

taking a seam-ripper to the fortress

is that not death?

before

i was a woman i was cartilage tendons ventricles

i will not learn to prove myself

still kneeling, stuck in the arctic again

i go wolf

in the shape of a spaceship

doomed to abandon this earth

i shall call my mother

nothing but daisy

when a daisy eats is that not death?

the sun still rises

gets compliments on her handwriting, her hibernation

god is fucking me like an animal and

i go wolf
