IF YOU LET IT

by Kristin Jensen

Now

On the sand

I begin to see

How the sea will

Take us

Willingly.

As matter of fact in its delivery of

The jellyfish, veiny,

Blue on the beach

And your put-

tering mouth on

Mine

You see,

The sea

Holds surfboards, seagulls,

Seaweed, knees, entire

ships

Bubbles break open against your soft neck

With me in the doorway

Your salty bath

You're drowning in three inches of

Water, dear

Here, (motions), stand!

In the water

I can see

How the sea will

Swallow us

Willingly

Willingly! Willingly.
