the altar mirror

the altar mirror and the triptych holds words bring my faces close watch the stain-glass colored skin while grandma and i reach together again out for truffles something eats rich and sickening presses swallows i am small —something gone in the mirror calls persistent my face dirty pressure repeats with the pleasure from hunger for something sweet glass ends in the mirror mouth elongates i am large big and barely observable, no mouth widens light or candle gone she captures my face mouth sings at grandma’s vanity, tongues
